Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
SEL is "the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions."
WHP has provided informal social-emotional learning support throughout its work with students, teachers, administrators, and counselors. To do this, WHP has integrated SEL concepts in academic curriculum, coached teachers on how to integrate in academic curriculum, and coached teachers how to integrate with other evidence-based programs. Additionally, WHP has created SEL curriculum that has PROVEN to decrease instances of student conflict, as well as increase student academic success.
